ALIA Institute

Japan Team

Plans for a large team of Japanese participants to come to Ohio for the Summer Institute were well underway when the Fukishima disaster struck. The physical cleanup and rebuilding has begun, as has the sharing of grief, the rebuilding of lives, and the reforming of communities with new visions for the future.

Having taken stock of the new realities, this team from Japan is even more eager to attend the Summer Institute to grow their own capacity to offer what their country needs in the midst of these new challenges.

ALIA friend and faculty member Bob Stilger has a lifelong connection to Japan, and is there now, bearing witness and offering what he can in the face of this tragedy. At Resilient Japan you can read more about the work he and the network of amazing people he is connected to are doing to heal and move forward.

If you would like to make a donation to support this Japanese team coming to ALIA, please contact Summer Institute Program Director Ryan Watson.
