ALIA is currently engaged in projects, programs, collaborations, and ongoing friendships with the following people, networks, and organizations.

Ashland Institute
Ashland’s Coming Into Your Own program guides women leaders (especially those in transition) in a process of reflection, exploration and regeneration. Barbara Cecil, Yolanda Hgengi, and Dorian Baroni are current ALIA faculty.

Art of Hosting and Harvesting Conversations that Matter
A leadership network committed to finding new ways of working together and implementing systemic change so that people from all walks of life are able to co-create the solutions they seek. Toke Moeller, Monica Nissen, Tim Merry, Chris Corrigan, Phil Cass, Bob Wing, and others from the AoH network have played a key role in ALIA’s evolution.

The Berkana Institute
A global learning community and resource exchange that supports community self-reliance and pioneering models of leadership. Margaret Wheatley, the founder of Berkana and author of Leadership and the New Science and other ground-breaking books, has been a founding and ongoing partner of ALIA. Other Berkana friends include Bob Stilger, Debbie Frieze, and Tom Hurley.

Centre for Spirituality and the Workplace
An academic-based centre for collaborative and community-based  research, which offers networking, support, conferences, and consulting services. ALIA faculty David Sable has played a founding role in the Centre.

Conscious Embodiment
Principles and practices from Aikido, a nonaggressive martial art, have been adapted for leaders, to help them respond more effectively, particularly when under pressure. Founded by ALIA faculty Wendy Palmer, who has been joined recently by daughter Tiphani Palmer.

Context Consulting
Context Consulting is dedicated to building leadership cultures in complex organizations and systems. We partner with global business leaders, local community organizations, and conveners of multi-stakeholder initiatives who are interested in using collaborative approaches to change. Based in Toronto and founded by ALIA faculty Mary Stacey, Context is also a partner organization to Harthill Consulting UK and The World Café Community Foundation.

Envision Halifax
A civic engagement initiative, which includes a 10-month leadership program, experimental learning labs, and community-wide dialogues. Co-founded by ALIA and the Halifax United Way.

Garrison Institute
A retreat center dedicated to applying the transformative wisdom of the world’s contemplative traditions to systemic challenges facing the human and natural environment. ALIA faculty David Rome is a Garrison Senior Fellow.

Harthill Consulting
A consultancy that applies Action Inquiry to leadership and organisational development. David Rooke, Elaine Herdman Barker, and Bill Torbert (author, Action Inquiry) are ALIA faculty and Harthill practitioners.

Human Systems Dynamics Institute
An educational consultancy applying science-based concepts and tools that help leaders see and influence patterns in human relationships. Founder Glenda Eoyang and associate Wendy Morris are ALIA faculty.

InterChange
A training and process consulting company based in Denmark, InterChange specialises in designing and facilitating participatory processes, engaging larger groups of people in strategic conversations, to co-create solutions, strategies or the futures they want.   Co-founded by Monica Nissén and Toke Møller, its focus is on “re-humanizing” organizations by enabling leaders to engage their stakeholders in partnerships or co-creative efforts and together create the wise solutions that work.

Naropa University
A Buddhist-inspired university with undergraduate, graduate, and extended studies programs, including the Authentic Leadership Certificate Program led by Susan Skjei.

National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation
A network of people and organizations actively practicing, promoting, and studying inclusive, high-quality conversations.

Nova Scotia Sea School
A program for teens and others that offers adventure, learning, and leadership through boat-building and sailing. Founded by ALIA associate Crane Stookey.

Oxford Leadership Academy
An international leadership consultancy based in the UK and founded by ALIA faculty Brian Bacon. Also see OLA on Wikipedia.

PeerSpirit
An educational consultancy that is rooted in Circle Process. Founded by Christina Baldwin (ALIA faculty) and Ann Linnea.

Pegasus
A provider of training/educational resources including books, newsletters, videos, and conferences on systems thinking, management innovation, organizational change, and the next-generation workplace.

Pioneers of Change
A global learning community of young change agents committed to learning, reflection, peer support, and social action.

Presencing Institute
A global community of individuals, institutions, and initiatives that apply and advance the U process of presencing to collectively create profound innovation and change. Founder C. Otto Scharmer (author, Theory U) and associates Arawana Hayashi and Jim Marsden are ongoing ALIA faculty and partners. Since Otto Scharmer and Arawana Hayashi first met at the ALIA Summer Institute, Arawana has been introducing embodied presence and meditation in Presencing Institute programs. She is also developing Social Presencing Theater.

Reos Partners
An international organisation dedicated to supporting and building capacity for innovative collective action in complex social systems. Adam Kahane (author, Solving Tough Problems and Power and Love), LeAnne Grillo, and Marianne Knuth (founder, Kufunda Village) are Reos Parners and ALIA faculty.

Shambhala International
A network of meditation centers founded by Chögyam Trungpa and now directed by his son and spiritual heir, Sakyong Mipham.

Shambhala Sun
A magazine celebrating the spirit of wakefulness in all aspects of life, from culture and the arts to politics and business. Publisher (and Sun Tzu translator and authority) Jim Gimian is a friend and faculty of ALIA.

Society for Organizational Learning
A global action learning community dedicated to generating real business and social system results, new intellectual capital, and networks related to the theories and practices of organizational learning. Founding Chair Peter Senge (author, The Fifth Discipline, The Necessary Revolution) was one of the founding partners of ALIA.

Windhorse Farm
A working family farm that is also a demonstration site for sustainable energy, gardening, energy, and forestry, as well as a meditation and retreat facility for teams and groups. Jim, Margaret, and Marguerite Drescher, and the land and forest they so lovingly steward, are ongoing ALIA friends and partners.

World Café
A methodology for creating living networks of conversation around questions that matter, which is being applied in organizations and communities worldwide. Cofounders David Isaacs and Juanita Brown (Authors, The World Cafe) were founding partners of ALIA. Juanita has continued to encourage and guide ALIA’s inter-generational initiatives.
