Arawana Hayashi
Arawana Hayashi is a dancer whose pioneering work is rooted in improvisation, collaboration, and traditional dance forms. Her experimental inter-disciplinary performance work became one of the foundations of Naropa University’s current degree programs in performance and somatic psychology. She has studied Bugaku, Japanese Court dance, under Suenobu Togi and founded the Jo Ha Kyu Performance Group in Boston. She is currently a senior meditation teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition.
Arawana has been on the core faculty of the ALIA Institute since 2001. She began a collaboration with Otto Scharmer in 2003 and is now actively engaged with the Presencing Institute, where she is leading the development of Social Presencing Theater.
